The tools themselves

Every tool on thedevtoolset runs entirely in your browser. Whatever you type into a tool — values, CSS, text — is processed locally on your device and is never uploaded to or stored on a server. We have no backend that receives it.

Information we collect

To make that concrete:

• Tool input. Nothing. Values, CSS, and text you enter into a tool stay on your device and are never sent anywhere.
• Accounts and uploads. There are none — the site has no sign-up, no login, and no file upload of any kind.
• Analytics. Google Analytics collects aggregate usage data such as page views, the tools people use, and general traffic trends. See "Analytics" below.
• Standard server data. Like any website, requests to this site pass through normal web infrastructure (Cloudflare), which sees things like IP address and browser type as part of serving the page. We do not access or analyze this data ourselves beyond what Analytics reports in aggregate.

Data processing and storage

As covered above, tool input is never stored anywhere — it exists only in your browser's memory for that page load. The site itself is just static files served from Cloudflare's network; there's no database and no backend holding anything. The one place data is retained is Analytics: Google processes and retains that data on its own servers, under Google's own retention policies — seeGoogle's policy for details.

Cookies and local storage

We use your browser's local storage to remember small preferences, such as your light/dark theme choice. This data stays on your device. Third parties (see below) may set their own cookies.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics (Google's gtag.js) to understand which tools are useful and how the site performs — for example, page views and aggregate usage trends. Google Analytics sets its own cookies (such as _ga) and may process usage data on Google's servers. We use it only to see aggregate patterns, not to identify you personally.

You can opt out of Google Analytics across all sites with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by blocking cookies as described under "Your choices" below. For more on how Google uses data, see Google's policy.

Visitors in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland

If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we ask for your consent before any analytics cookies are set. Google Analytics runs with Google Consent Mode v2, which keeps analytics storage disabled by default in these regions — no _ga cookie is created and no usage data is collected until you choose "Accept" on our cookie banner. This consent is the legal basis on which we process analytics data for you.

You can withdraw or change your choice at any time using the "Cookie preferences" link in the site footer; declining leaves analytics disabled with no effect on the tools, which run entirely in your browser. We do not use a consent banner outside these regions.

The same regional defaults also apply to advertising signals (ad_storage, ad_user_data, andad_personalization) — they too startdenied by default for EEA, UK, and Switzerland visitors, independent of the analytics choice above.

Third-party advertising

This site may display ads served by Google, including through Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies — including the DoubleClick DART cookie — to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.

You can opt out of the DART cookie and personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of participating vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info/choices, or, if you're in Europe, at youronlinechoices.eu. Your choices

You can clear cookies and local storage at any time through your browser settings, and use a browser-level opt-out or content blocker if you prefer. Doing so will not affect the core functionality of the tools, since they run locally.

Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information (for example, through the contact email below),let us know and we'll remove it.

International users

This site is reachable worldwide, and the analytics and advertising data described above may be processed on servers outside your country, including in the United States, subject to Google's own data-transfer safeguards.

Your privacy rights (California and other US states)

We do not sell personal information, and there is very little to sell in the first place — tool input is never collected, and we have no accounts or profiles. If you're a resident of a US state with its own privacy law (such as California's CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, delete, or opt out of the sharing of information for advertising purposes, which can apply even without a sale. You can exercise this by emailing us below or by using the advertising opt-out links in the "Third-party advertising" section above.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site or the tools it uses change. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page — check back occasionally if you want to stay current.
